Contemporary Artist who Influences my Work 1: Sakir Gokcebag
Sakir Gokcebag is known for creating pieces out of everyday objects that people take for granted. His work is an experiment, the artist shifts the regular visual environment and display of objects and spurs interest in the viewers through his use of optical illusions and subtlety. I have chosen this artist because I believe that what he posses is an artistic gift; to take something that others will pass by and make it something worth investigating on a deeper level.
I hope to learn how to see the world the way Sakir Gokcebag does, as an artist I want to be able to create from the most mundane objects, something amazing.
To relate his work to my piece, I have tried to take simple lines, and with the helpful aid of the Aspire program, make them something more, something visually captivating and 3-dimensional. Though my shifts require much more hands on manipulation I hope to be able to simplify my process in future works.
